Mountain Phlox Linanthus Grandiflorus is a beautiful annual wildflower native to California. Mountain Phlox seeds can be started directly outdoors in spring or fall, and also called California Phlox because of its native range, Linanthus Grandiflorus features attractive ferny foliage and blooms with funnel-shaped, sweetly fragrant, lilac, pink or white flowers. Mountain Phlox is a low-growing, long-blooming wildflower that thrives in higher elevations and attracts bees and butterflies.
Mountain Phlox can be sown as a ground cover or around low-growing perennials for midsummer bloom, and California Phlox looks wonderful in rock gardens, wildflower gardens, containers, pots, flower beds, and cascading over walls. Linanthus Grandiflorus seeds germinate quickly, and Mountain Phlox thrives in sun or shade, preferring well-drained soil with plenty of moisture, and since this plant is a native of moist, semi-shaded environments, those conditions are most favorable. Mountain Phlox readily re-seeds itself and makes an excellent cut flower.
