Craspedia Billy Buttons Craspedia Globosa is a perennial native to New Zealand and Australia, but this unique plant is more often grown as a hardy annual. Also commonly called Billy Balls, Drumsticks, and Woollyheads, the exotic-looking Craspedia has grass-like, silvery-green foliage with narrow, hairy leaves that have wooly appearance and blooms with bright-yellow, globe-shaped clusters of tiny, cup-shaped flowers on a top of stiff, wiry stems.
Billy Buttons is easy to grow from seeds, and the fast growing, drought tolerant Craspedia makes a superb flower for rock gardens, cutting gardens, and borders. Craspedia Globosa grows best in full sun and gritty, well-drained garden soil tolerating a wide range of soil types, including sands, gravels, clays, and loams. Craspedia Drumsticks is a fantastic fresh or dried cut flower.
