Feverfew Tanacetum Parthenium is a strongly aromatic perennial herb. Other botanical names of this plant are Chrysanthemum Parthenium and Pyrethrum Parthenium. Feverfew seeds can be started indoors or outdoors and this reliable, unfussy plant forms shrubby mounds of strong-scented, ferny, yellow-green foliage and produces masses of small, charming, daisy-like, white flowers with yellow, button-like, disk florets. Feverfew blooms from spring to late fall providing citrus-like scent attracting hoverflies and butterflies.
Feverfew is popular as an ornamental plant for various garden applications such as pots and containers, cottage gardens, borders and flower beds, and any herb garden benefits tremendously from a Feverfew presence. Tanacetum Parthenium seeds have to be lightly covered with soil or peat moss, and Feverfew thrives in full sun and adapts easily to the poorest soils. As an herbal remedy Feverfew has been known for centuries for its ability to provide relief from migraine headaches and reduce fever. Feverfew leaves can be used in sachets to deter moths, and its flowers are used in potpourris.
