Globe Gilia Gilia Capitata is a charming North America native wildflower that belongs to the phlox family. Globe Gilia seeds can be sown directly outdoors after last frost, and also called Blue Thimble Flower and Queen Anne's Thimbles, this Gilia features attractive, finely cut foliage that appears mostly at the base of the plant and produces densely held, ball-shaped clusters of medium to bright blue flowers on upright, 8-10 Inches tall flowering stems. Globe Gilia blooms profusely from early spring to late summer attracting bees and butterflies.

Globe Gilia is a showy and adaptable annual wildflower that is best suited for planting in naturalized landscapes and ornamental gardens, meadows and containers, along roadsides and on hillsides and slopes. Gilia Capitata seeds have to be just slightly pressed into the soil and kept moist until germination. Queen Anne's Thimbles flower plant grows best in full sun, rocky or sandy soils with good drainage provided, and once established Gilia is very drought tolerant, so no any summer watering is necessary. Globe Gilia makes a good cut flower, and this annual flower readily self-sows, providing fresh, new plants every spring.
