Morning Glory Caprice Ipomoea Purpurea is an annual climbing vine that is one of the original Bavarian varieties of Morning Glory. Morning Glory Caprice seeds can be started indoors 4-6 weeks before last frost, or the flower seeds can be started directly outdoors in spring after last frost. This particular variety of Ipomoea Purpurea grows rapidly and climbs up to 120 inches tall producing masses of trumpet-shaped, two inches wide, sky blue with violet star flowers. The Morning Glory flowers are loved by bees, butterflies and hummingbirds.
Morning Glory Caprice is a perfect climber to grow on trellis, walls, archways, or over fences, and Ipomoea Purpurea is also a popular annual flower for containers, large pots, hanging baskets or as a fast growing annual ground cover. The hard coated Ipomoea Purpurea seeds should be nicked or soaked overnight in warm water in order to speed up germination. Morning Glory Caprice grows best in full sun tolerating partial shade and preferring average to poor, evenly moist, but well drained soil.
