Cornflower Yellow Globe Centaurea Macrocephala is a hardy perennial native to Europe. Yellow Globe Cornflower seeds are easy to germinate. Also known as Armenian Basket Flower, Giant Knapweed, and Bighead Knapweed, this rugged perennial Cornflower forms tall clumps of coarse, light-green leaves and produces fluffy, bright-yellow, thistle-like flowers on sturdy tall stems. Bighead Knapweed blooms all summer long and the flowers are long-lasting and attractive to butterflies and hummingbirds.
Cornflower Yellow Globe is one of the best perennials for borders and hard to reach areas in the garden, because once established this plant virtually does not need any care. Centaurea Macrocephala seeds produce the perennial Cornflower that tolerates drought and likes to grow in full sun and light, moist, well drained soil, but Armenian Basket Flower can adapt to most soil types including clay. Giant Knapweed is a very popular, long-lasting cut flower for fresh bouquets, and Cornflower is also an excellent dried flower.
