Calendula Orange King Calendula Officinalis is an old-fashioned, flowering annual herb. Calendula seeds are one of the easiest seeds to grow, and so called Pot Marigold features an attractive foliage with branching stems and produces large, fully double, chrysanthemum-like orange flowers. Calendula Officinalis blooms most of the summer and flowering season can be prolonged, if the old flower heads are removed. The showy flowers are eye-catching, and butterflies, hummingbirds, and other beneficial pollinators are attracted to blooming Calendula.
Calendula Orange King is a beautiful addition to cottage and rock gardens. Pot Marigold is also valuable as an edging plant, and it grows well in containers. Calendula Officinalis seeds can be planted directly outdoors all season long, and the established Calendula is very adaptable to most soil conditions and can tolerate partial shade, but the plant thrives in full sun and well drained soil. Because of its strong stems Calendula makes a good cut flower, and its petals are edible, so they can be used either fresh or dry in salads.
